MatchRoom Golf (“MatchRoom,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) is a mobile application that helps golfers organize and track friendly wagers during their rounds. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and how you can manage your data.
By using MatchRoom, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
We collect only the data necessary to provide MatchRoom’s core functionality:

Our database never stores the raw number from verification; Firebase Authentication, which sends the text-message code, keeps it on your sign-in record. |
| Firebase UID | A unique identifier created by Firebase Authentication when you verify your phone number. Used for account identity and data access control. |
| Gameplay data | Scores, wager types, wager amounts, press bets, round results, course selections, and round history. |
| Contacts (hashed) | If you grant contacts permission, we hash phone numbers from your address book on-device to find friends already using MatchRoom. Raw contact data never leaves your device. |
| Coarse location | Used to show golf courses near you in the course selection screen. Requested only with your permission, at low accuracy. To find nearby courses your phone sends this approximate position to Google’s Places service. It is not stored on our servers, though an error report may include it (see Sentry below). |
| Purchase history | Subscription status and transaction identifiers managed through Apple’s in-app purchase system and RevenueCat. We do not collect or store your payment method details. |
| Payment names (optional) | If you add them under Profile → How you get paid: the Venmo, PayPal.Me or Cash App name that you want other players to pay you with. They are stored with your account and shared into the rounds you play, where the other players in those rounds can see them so they can pay you in one tap. A name you save for another player after paying them is stored on your account only. |
| Payment notes | When you use Pay by app, a note in that round of what you said: that you paid or received an amount, to or from which player, with which app, and when. The players in that round can see these notes. MatchRoom never sends, holds or receives money and is not told whether a payment was made. |
We do not collect your precise location, photos, browsing history, advertising identifiers, health data, bank or card details, or payment app passwords. The only payment information we store is the payment names and notes described above.

MatchRoom uses the following third-party services to operate. Each provider processes data according to their own privacy policies:
We do not share your personal data with any third-party AI services, advertising networks, analytics platforms, or data brokers.
Round data and player profiles are stored in Firebase Realtime Database, which uses encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. A round is not private to its players: anyone who has a round’s code (or a join link or QR code that carries it) can open that round and see its players’ names and handicaps, scores, bets and results. That is how joining and watching a round work, so share a round’s code only with people you want to see it. Changing a round requires signing in to the app.
Local data (your device ID, display name, and round history) is stored on your device using encrypted local storage. Your display name is also saved to your account on our servers, and round data is shared through our servers whenever you play a synced round.
We retain your gameplay data for as long as your account exists and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping.
You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us at support@matchroomgolf.com. Upon receiving a verified deletion request, we will delete your Firebase account and the records tied to it (your profile, friends list, your copy of your round history, your phone link and your subscription record) within 30 days. The rounds you played are not deleted: each one also holds the other players’ scores and results, so it stays as part of their history, with your name on its scorecard. Local data on your device can be cleared by uninstalling the app.
Deleting your account also removes the payment names you saved, the copies shared into your rounds, and your own statements on payment notes. Where another player made a statement on the same note, their statement stays as their record.

MatchRoom is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 17 years of age. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 17, we will delete that data promptly. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us at support@matchroomgolf.com.
MatchRoom does not track you across other apps or websites. We do not use Apple’s IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers). We do not display advertisements. We do not participate in any advertising networks or data exchanges.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by other reasonable means before the changes take effect. The “Effective” date at the top of this page indicates when this policy was last revised.
